Terms of Service

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Welcome to Emam (the Emam app, also known as Emam App or Emam AI, which are the same product). These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY — to be confirmed by Emam] ("Emam," "we," "us," or "our"). They explain the rules for using our app and services, including important notes about how our AI-assisted and religious content works.

Please read these Terms carefully. By downloading, accessing, or using Emam, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. If you have any questions, you can reach us at support@emamapp.com.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By creating an account, using guest mode, or otherwise accessing or using Emam, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. These Terms apply to all users, including guests who use the app without an account.

If you are using Emam on behalf of another person or an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for them.

2. Eligibility and Age

Emam is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age of digital consent in your country or region if that age is higher. You must meet this age requirement to use the app. By using Emam, you confirm that you do.

If you are a minor under the law of your region, you may only use Emam with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child below the applicable age without proper consent, we will take steps to delete it.

3. What Emam Provides

Emam is an Islamic companion app that brings together a range of features to support your daily worship and learning. These features include, and may change over time:

  • Prayer times and fasting times calculated for your location, with prayer-time (Adhan) and Islamic event reminders.
  • Qibla direction using your device compass and sensors.
  • Quran reading and Tajweed practice, including real-time AI recitation feedback that listens to your microphone.
  • Live Khutbah Translator, which transcribes and translates Arabic sermon audio into 20 or more languages in real time, with optional spoken playback.
  • Dua AI, which generates a suggested supplication with references based on a situation you describe.
  • A Zakat calculator that estimates Zakat due based on the financial inputs you enter.
  • Scholarly insights, daily inspiration, Islamic news, and khutbah summaries that are AI-assisted or curated.
  • Community features such as the Global Dua Board and the global dhikr counter.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time to improve the app or for technical, legal, or business reasons.

4. Accounts, Guest Mode, and Security

Most features of Emam work in guest mode without an account. For features that need an account, you can sign in using email and password (with email verification), Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.

When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate and current information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Please contact us at support@emamapp.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to help protect your account and data, but no app or online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

In guest mode, a randomly generated device identifier stored on your device is used to attribute certain community activity to you, such as your contribution to the global dhikr counter and the Dua Board. Guests do not have a personal profile or sign-in credentials.

5. Important Notice About Religious and AI-Assisted Content

This section is important. Emam uses AI and curated sources to help you, but the app is a tool and not a religious authority. Please read and rely on it accordingly.

  • Dua AI generates suggested supplications and references using AI. These may contain mistakes or imperfect references and must be verified against authentic sources before you rely on them.
  • Tajweed feedback, Khutbah translations, scholarly insights, daily inspiration, news, and khutbah summaries are AI-assisted or curated and may contain inaccuracies. They are provided for assistance and information only and are not a substitute for a qualified scholar or mufti, and are not religious rulings (fatwa).
  • Prayer times and fasting times are estimates. They can vary depending on the calculation method, your location, and your device settings. Please confirm with your local mosque or a trusted authority when accuracy matters, such as for the start and end of fasting.
  • Zakat results are informational estimates based on the inputs you provide and live nisab rates. They are not financial, tax, or religious advice and not a religious ruling (fatwa). Consult a qualified scholar or advisor for your specific situation.
  • Qibla and compass accuracy depends on your device sensors and surroundings and may be affected by interference or calibration.

You are responsible for verifying important religious matters with qualified scholars and authoritative sources. Emam does not issue fatwas and does not replace personal scholarly guidance.

6. Community Content and Acceptable Use

The Global Dua Board lets signed-in users post short dua requests, up to 200 characters, that are visible to all users worldwide. Other users can tap Ameen and share these posts. Content you post to the Dua Board is public community content.

When you submit content, you agree not to post anything that is objectionable, including content that is hateful, blasphemous, abusive, harassing, threatening, deceptive or misleading, spam, sexually explicit, illegal, or that infringes the rights of others. You are solely responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it. We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior on the Dua Board and other community features.

We may review, moderate, filter, refuse, or remove any content, and we may suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law. Where these tools are available in the app, you can report content you find objectionable and block abusive users directly within the app, and we aim to act on valid reports promptly. Full details of these community rules and controls are set out in our Acceptable Use Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

By submitting content to Emam, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content within the app and its community features for the purpose of operating and improving the service. This license ends when your content is removed, except where it has been shared by others or where we must retain it for legal reasons.

7. Prohibited Conduct

When using Emam, you agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where this is expressly permitted by law.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or overload our systems, servers, or networks, including the Emam backend.
  • Access the app or its APIs through automated means in a way that is abusive, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account or system.
  • Use the app to harass, abuse, impersonate, or harm others, or to distribute spam or malicious code.
  • Copy, resell, or commercially exploit the app or its content without our written permission.

8. Intellectual Property

The Emam app, including its design, software, features, and the name and brand Emam, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. The Emam name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without our permission.

Quran text, Hadith collections, translations, and similar religious texts displayed in the app are provided with their respective attributions and remain the property of their original sources and publishers. We provide these for your benefit and respect the rights of those sources.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial worship and learning, subject to these Terms.

9. Third-Party Services

Emam relies on trusted third-party services to operate, including Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Crashlytics crash reporting, and Hosting), Google Sign-In, Apple Sign-In, Crisp for in-app live chat support, the Emam backend at pathway.emam.ai for AI transcription, translation, and generation, and prayer-time, Qibla, and content providers. These are the same processors described in our Privacy Policy.

These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content, practices, or availability of third-party services, and any links to external sites are provided for convenience only.

10. Service Availability and No Warranty

Emam is provided on an as is and as available basis. We work hard to keep the app reliable and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content will be complete or accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of religious or AI-generated content, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emam and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on prayer times, Zakat estimates, Dua AI, translations, or any other AI-assisted or curated content.

Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app will be limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose, or the minimum amount permitted by applicable law.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Emam and its team from any claims, damages, losses, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your violation of these Terms, or content you submit, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Termination and Account Deletion

You may stop using Emam at any time. You can delete your account directly in the app using the Delete Account option, which removes your user profile record and your Firebase Authentication account, or you can email support@emamapp.com to request full deletion of your associated data. For complete server-side erasure, including your profile image and backend records, please use the email request. Full details are set out on our Account Deletion page.

When you delete your account in the app or send us a verified email request, we delete your account and associated data within 30 days, and any copies in our routine backups are purged on our normal backup cycle. We may retain limited information where the law requires it or to prevent fraud or abuse, and aggregate, non-identifying data such as global dhikr counts may remain.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the app, or where required for legal, security, or technical reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnity, will continue to apply.

14. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the app, our practices, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.

Your continued use of Emam after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the app and, if you wish, delete your account.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING-LAW JURISDICTION — to be confirmed by Emam], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the app will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable mandatory law in your country gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

Before starting any formal dispute, we encourage you to contact us at support@emamapp.com so we can try to resolve the matter informally and amicably.

16. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in full effect. Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Emam regarding the app.

17. Contact Us

If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at support@emamapp.com or visit https://emam.ai. We are happy to help.
